OUR STORY

How we met.

His side.

I was driving into work one day and as I was coming up the hill the car in front of me lost a hubcap going over a speed bump.  The person that lost their hubcap apparently didn’t realize it and drove away so I got out of my car, grabbed the hubcap and jumped back in to go find the person.  I drove around the parking lot for a few minutes and find the car with a missing hubcap.  I walk up the car and there’s a cute girl putting on makeup. I definitely startled her.   She rolled down her window and I explained that her car lost a hubcap, handed it to her and ran back to go park my car, hoping to get back in time to walk in to work with this cute girl.  As I’m walking through the parking lot, she’s getting out of her car so we walk in together exchanging names and what we do at the bank, then go on our separate ways.

I worked a lot from home during that period of time so I would only go to the office maybe 1 or two times a week at most. I didn’t run into her again for a few weeks but I tried to find her by looking up her name in the corporate directory. I knew her name was “Amy” but I didn’t know that she has a unique spelling so I had trouble finding her.  I finally figured out where she sat in the building and was able to find her name by doing a reverse mail code lookup. Haha.  I started sending her instant messages and we’d go to the cafe at work for breakfast or take a walk around the building at break time.   I liked this girl a lot from the start.  I mean, she was very pretty and she loved the Raiders, how could I not.   I asked her to lunch one day, then got the courage to ask her  out on a date to a hockey game.  Besides the fact that she dropped her phone in the toilet, our 1st date was a success and we got along great.  Now this cute girl with half her makeup on, and a missing hubcap is becoming my wife and I couldn’t be happier.

Her side.

I was finishing up my makeup in the car before heading in to work one morning, when a guy knocks on my window. I could tell he was trying not to scare me, but he DEFINITELY scared me! After my initial panic, I rolled down my window. I noticed how cute he was even though I could barely bring myself to look at him. I only had mascara on one eye! I was so embarrassed! He held up a hubcap that he said was mine. It had come off as I was going over a speed bump and he, being the gentleman that he is, stopped traffic to pick it up and return it to me! Now I was even more embarrassed! I just wanted this moment to end so I could hurry and put mascara on my other eye, and look like a normal person! He handed me my hubcap, I thanked him and told him how embarrassed I was, and he left to go park his car.

I knew I only had seconds to finish getting ready if I wanted to be able to walk with him into the building. I got ready as fast as I could and we officially met for the first time on that beautiful August morning! 😍

From then on, I used my best stalker abilities to find out more about him. Which was very hard at first when all I had to go off was his first name. You can imagine how many Matt’s there are at Bank of America. The ladies at work would refer to him as “Hubcap” and would help me with excuses to go out of my way to talk to him. The football pool I had started in the office was my best excuse. We would take breaks at work together and go on walks. Then finally Matt asked me out to lunch at his favorite Mexican spot. And soon after, he asked me out on our official first date to a Kings game! I fell in love so fast and so easily. I always knew he was the one! Four and a half years later, I am marrying the man who was always meant to be.
